What if by simply taking a walk you could lift a child from a life of poverty - forever. An estimated 100
million Dalit ("Untouchable") children live trapped in a world
of extreme poverty in the nation of India. These children are destined from birth for a
life of illiteracy, sickness and hunger with little hope of
breaking the poverty cycle. The walk happens on August 7th, 2010 and starts at Teralba Park, Mitchelton following the walking path heading east through the Boondall Wetlands, and then north over the Hornibrook Bridge up and into Scarborough. Your walk will take you through a network of beautiful parks, bushland hidden among shady Eucalypts, wetlands teeming with birdlife and cool, peaceful coastal paths. After you've completed your 50k's enter the Finish at Owens Park for a well earned break! |
