In The News

On the 5-8 of March, Go the Extra Mile will have a stall at the Surrender conference at the Belgrave Heights Convention Centre. Surrender is a message (and a conference!) that invites and encourages Jesus followers on a journey from believer to disciple. For more information, click here.

Not involved in a local church? If you normally tithe your income but you are not attending a local church, then why not consider tithing to a walker or team from now till the event takes place and 100% of your offering will be used to impact the lives of thousands of children all over India.

What's New

The trail has undergone some changes with Parks Victoria altering some parts of the trail. Of particular interest is the feeder trail that leads up to Janesdell Rd (in the last leg of the trail) - this has been replaced with a widened bush trail. The mapbookreads "7. The narrow track will descend then climb and swing to the right up to Janesdell Rd." You will need to exit the bush trail and head up to Janesdell Rd (some 10-20m).

Make sure you always carry your mapbook when out training (register to receive your training mapbook).

Fundraising Tip:
Why not host a movie night? Grab a good DVD, supply snacks, invite a bunch of folks over and charge $10 as an entry fee. Remember to request and show the Dalit DVD, so that your friends know what their money is going to.

Remember, your supporters can donate safely online by clicking here.

Training Tip: Opportunities
As there are only 9 weeks to the event, it is time to start thinking about training techniques that can go arm in arm with your everyday life.

Try to walk to work instead of catching a tram, take the stairs instead of the escalator/lift or take a 30min walk during lunchtimes everyday.

By just performing simple routines, you can help make a difference in your overall fitness.

Countdown

Did you know that every hour, two Dalits are assaulted, three Dalit women raped, two Dalits murdered and two Dalit houses burned (according to the Human Rights Education Movement of India), yet only one percent of those who commit crimes against Dalits are ever convicted. Dalit Woman

Carman’s Fine Foods has decided to help and support Go the Extra Mile by donating a great source of energy food which will be available to all participants along the trail on event day.

“We believe food should come from the kitchen, not the chemist. We believe in being proud of our ingredient with no need to hide them in fine print. We believe nuts and seeds are good for our well-being. We believe that once you’ve tried Carman’s, you will love!”

Carman’s products can be found in all major supermarkets around Australia.

Support those who support us!

Videographers & Photographers - we're looking for any folks good with images - either video or stills - who would like to help us document the walk in May. If you know someone, why not encourage them to contact us.

Sydney Bushwalkers - know someone in Sydney who could help us get a Sydney walk started? We'd love to hear from them as we are now making plans to extend Go the Extra Mile into other capital cities.

We walk to change the appalling situation that traps the Dalit children of India in a lifetime of extreme poverty. Through the incredible work of the Bridge of Hope centres the poverty cycle is being broken - the gospel is being preached, dignity is being restored and lives are being transformed - forever. Remember that every dollar you raise is used to bring tangible changes to countless children's lives!
