Affects: Section 3

Exiting Doongalla Homestead

An alternative route will be used on event day for the exit from Doongalla Homestead due to damage on the Dandenong Creek Trail - you can train on the revised trail immediately.

Crossing Mountain Highway

Tobruk Track (ascends from Mountain Hwy crossing) remains closed while it undergoes repairs from the Feb/March deluge. We will be exiting right approx. half way up the ascent from the creek crossing onto Inverness Ave. We will be following Inverness Ave until it meets Mountain Hwy which will be crossed approx 100m north to pick up Alamein Track. Alamein Track is followed to its end and then a left turn is made onto Mystic Track which eventually becomes Outlook Track - proceed as normal onto View Track.

Sherbrook Forest Walk

The Moore Break trail skirts the southern boundary of Sherbrook Forest - you normally turn right onto this trail after crossing the footbridge. It has recently been turned into a wide fire break and so we have decided to use an alternative trail, Hacketts Track on event day. After the creek crossing, turn left onto Hacketts Track.

*** All trail routes will be clearly trail marked on event day

Trail Damage
3 Feb 2012

Section 3 of the Trail / Tobruk Track remains closed while it undergoes repairs from the recent heavy rains. Detour by heading down Mountain Hwy (approx 1km) - take Alamein Track and then turn left onto Outlook Track - proceed as normal. Consult your mapbook for more information.

Ferndale Boulders

When walking section 3 of the trail, you are told to look out for some boulders that mark the entry of a descending trail section that heads right from Ferndale Rd.

Some folks are missing the boulders and so here's what they look like when approaching them. The circle marks the 2nd set of boulders and those in the foreground are obvious. The trail runs off to the right (can just be seen) between these 2 sets of boulders.

We suspect that some folks are having some great conversations while walking this section and are simply walking past them.
